Pacific Coast Highway - A Great American Road Trip One of the great road trips anyone can take throughout the United States is the Pacific Highway Road Trip.

Highway 1 beach camping. Where the Imperial Highway State Route 90 and Playa Del Rey meet Leo Carillo State Beach. Campers can wander along the private sandy beach wade surf boogie board and play frisbee or take. Its perfect for last-minute planners seeing as it offers first-come-first-served sites too.

Located some 17 miles north of Fort Bragg just off Shoreline Highway 1 this 50-acre privately-owned campground offers beach-side camping in the sand on grassy sites and along a creek. Visitors who plan to stay the night have two choices. Also known as US 101 traveling this highway is a fantastic way to experience the west coast.

The beaches of Bahia Concepción begin 12 mi 20 km south of Mulegé the first being Playa Santispac. Dogs are allowed at beaches 1 and 6. Minimum number of people is 9 maximum number of people is 35.

Morro Strand is on CA Highway 1 near Hearst Castle. Morro Strand State Beach. Mulegé and the Bahía Concepción beaches are all easily reached from Highway 1.

We walked for miles exploring the wide beautiful beach and celebrated each sunset with a campfire overlooking the water. Campers park on the west side of Highway 1 and walk in to the campground approximately 14 mile across the Big Sur River on a seasonal wooden footbridge. Campers may use the pay showers in the main campground of the park.

Nestled in a Monterrey pine forest and situated just east of Highway 1 Plaskett Creek Campground is a short walk away from the nearby Sand Dollar Beach and Jade Cove. This is one of the few parks that you can still camp right on the beach. There are 18 tent sites that literally back onto the ocean.

The campsites at Plaskett Creek are spacious and many have ocean vista views. This state beach campground can accommodate camper vehicles up to 24 feet long. About five minutes inland from Highway 1 Butano State Park encompasses a lush redwood-filled canyon in San Mateo County.

The Morro Bay Strand lies 2 miles south of Cayucos on Highway 1. Note that leashed dogs are allowed in the adjacent campground but not on the beach. Small sand dunes separate their oceanside campgrounds from the beach.

Mulegé is 175 mi 280 km south of the state borders of BC. There is no vehicle access to the group campsites. Small beach fires less than 30 across are permitted and you can collect up to an armload of driftwood.

They have 12 tent sites and 15 RV spaces. We like this campground. There is a rocky driftwood covered beach below the Reef Campground and Day-Use Area at Fort Ross State Historical Park.

Westport Beach RV Park and Campground Mendocino County. 37 USD per night for a standard tent site. The hookup sites have full hookups 50 and 30 amps.

From Highway 1 head west on Cass Street. It may not be our favorite beach camping spot in California but itll do in a pinch and the ocean is right there. The campground has 20 camping spots and access to the See details.

The first option is the family campground which includes about 40 standard tent and RV campsites with restrooms drinking water campfire rings and picnic tables.
