This RV camping spot is next to El Capitan Canyon. As part of Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park it is located six miles off Hwy 101 at the end of unpaved Davison Rd. Perfect for Hipcampers doing the WA Pacific Highway 101 scenic route.

In years past our family has camped here both in tents and in a travel trailer at different times. Small beach fires less than 30 across are permitted and you can collect up to an armload of driftwood. With the crossing of the Columbia River the Cascade Mountains provide the horizon mark to the east and the landscape grows more open.

Sycamore Canyon Campground in Point Mugu State Park is close to the beach with lots of trees and bushes for added privacy. Timber Cove Beach is at the Timber Cove Campground and Boat Landing about 14 miles north of Jenner in Sonoma. The campground lies in the dunes along a beautiful 10-mile stretch of golden beach in northwestern California.

Turn LEFT on So. Exit Interstate 5 at Encinitas Blvd head WEST. Once we driive past Pismo Beach its mostly an inland route.

Unlike most campgrounds on Highway 101 the gate is locked at 10 PM and opens at 8 AM so keep that in mind when planning your arrival. Our visit on this trip was to see the campground the Ranger Station to walk the Kalaloch Creek Nature Trail located across the highway and see the beach. This is one of the few parks that you can still camp right on the beach.

The first part has ocean views. Its terminus is in Los Angeles where it merges with Interstate 5 to continue down the coast of California. As recreational vehicles have become the standard means of camping RV parks on the Oregon Coast have grown to meet the needs of the RV camper.
